My mom got me this awesome little camcorder for my birthday. It takes still pictures and moving images and if you get the 8G SD memory card for it, it films in movie length HD quality! It even comes with it's own movie editing software called Snap 'n Share Pro.
It's with the editing Software that I'm having problems. When I insert the installation disc NOTHING happens! My computer knows there is a disc inside it but it's like the disc is blank. So I called costumer service but because the costumer service is in freakin' India they misunderstood me and sent me the wrong download link by email. So I decided to download a video converter to go with my imovie(I have a mac) so I can covert the avi files the instructions say the camera saves the images as, to mp4 so I can edit my footage the way my friends showed me. This mourning I am having 2 more problems. I can't find my video converter software anywhere on my computer. I guess it got deleted so I'll have to download it AGAIN. The Stitch/Angel scenes I also downloaded last night are a text file now instead of a video. I was like WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE?!
Plus I realized something, what if the camera only imports if it's own software is in the computer? Do you guys think it will import without it's software? Like do you think it works with other software? They wouldn't just make the camcorder work with only one type of software right?? If it will work in other software, how do I import footage if I can't import it directly to imovie? Where do I save it?? If ANY of you guys might be able to help me in ANY way with this PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know!!!! I have no idea what to do here!! HELP!!!

My only advice is go to a tech support forum and give them all the information your can about your camera and your problem. I believe I used fixya.com for my tablet issue and these guys are pretty well informed too. forums.techguy.org/Also,trey online customer support through a website. I believe most places you CAN call customer support and ask to talk to a fellow American. Hope i'm helpful to some extent. |

Thanks Becky. I actually just discovered what the problem was. The disc works fine. But my stupid mac keeps thinking it is a text file when I download it. Bleh. That's why the Stitch/Angel clips got messed up. My computer thinks they are text files and my "text edit" thingy keeps popping up. Anybody know how to get a mac to stop downloading things as text files that are not meant to be text files???!!

My computer keeps downloading my Snap n share pro editing software and other Stitch/Angel video files I got off the internet as text files so I can't use them like I should be able to. |

Ok good news I called the place I got my computer from and they said the installation is the problem so I called the place we got the camera from and they are sending a new installation disc. If this doesn't work I'll need to get a new camera.

Update on this camcorder thing. I have just ordered a brand new camcorder. It is purple, bigger,more durable, and records and saves in MOV file type(instead of avi like the old one. I have had a lot of success with MOV in my computer) so it SHOULD be able to work in my imovie and quicktime player. It will get here in a few days so I'm just PRAYING that it works this time! If it doesn't I'll be SO MAD!

Merry Christmas! So I got camcorder as a gift and it is a MILLION TIMES BETTER than the old one I had! The sound and visual quality are AMAZING! And get this: All you have to do to turn it on is open the LCD screen. The touch screen on it is something I will have to get used to because it has been years since I have used a touch screen but the screen is really big and easy to read. I have not tried to transfer it to imovie yet which will be the real test but if I can't transfer it via USB it is still compatible with another video transfer device that I have so it shouldn't cause the kind of issues I had before. The old one had a software that didn't work so I was never able to use it because I couldn't get the footage out. Now here are 2 questions that came up while I was having fun with the camcorder. The camcorder can be charged by connecting it to a laptop. If I charge it on my laptop,does the computer have to be on or off? Can I use the internet and do stuff on the computer when the camera is charging or not?? I also had a question about memory cards, if I delete all the footage off the card can I keep reusing it? It uses SDHC cards. Or do I have to change it every so often?  ? Please help! The instructions for the camera don't say anything about these things. I guess they figure people would already know the answer but I don't. |

I figured out I had to push the memory card down and it pops out. I also discovered the camera has a setting where it works like a digital voice recorder. SO COOL! Just hope the visual quality is good enough for the youtube project I want to use it for. Any ideas on how I could keep the camera still without having to use a tripod???
